Amazing Nokia 9 PureView photo and video leaks reveals all

The leak of a Nokia 9 PureView photo has revealed the full look of the upcoming flagship phone from HMD Global, quickly verified with a leaked promo video from Nokia.

We knew about the penta-lens five camera setup on the rear thanks to previous leaks, but we didn’t have a complete picture of the front of the phone – aside from the ideas put out there by earlier Nokia handsets and renders of the new device.

Firstly, leaker Evan Blass put out an image in the early hours of New Year’s Eve and it seems certain that the new handset will be released early in the new year.

But more important than the leak from Blass is a promo video – formatted to be vertical suggesting it will be used on social media – that’s potentially the source of Blass’ image.

The promo video confirms a number of details – not only the design, but also the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 hardware – suggesting that this phone has been in development slightly longer than HMD Global might have wanted – but also that there’s Qi wireless charging (so the back is probably glass), an under-display fingerprint scanner and a 5.99-inch 2K HDR display.

The camera skills point to more detail and texture, while capturing five simultaneous photos – and 10x more light – although out of context that statement doesn’t mean much.

Potentially this will be at a January-February event held by Nokia or – at the latest it will be at Mobile World Congress in late February. HMD Global doesn’t appear to be exhibiting at CES 2019, taking place in Las Vegas in January – but currently there’s no confirmation of when it will launch.
