Nokia 9 pictured in detail ahead of upcoming launch

Like many upcoming phones, there isn’t much we don’t know about the impending Nokia 9 PureView. We’re set to see the phone for the first time on Sunday 24 February at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

Now we have some more leaked images of the devices via 91Mobiles. This phone is all about the rear, with its penta-lens camera clearly shown and a curved edge to the rear, too. Also clear on the images is an optical fingerprint reader underneath the screen and the AndroidOne branding on the back.

The penta-lens arrangement will incorporate a standard sensor probably alongside ultrawide, telephoto, monochrome and depth-of-field sensors for portrait mode. 91Mobiles speculates the monochrome sensor could be a 3D ToF (Time of Flight) camera, but we think this unlikely.

While the front of the handset is nicely styled and follows the Nokia design language, there will be some who are disappointed that Nokia’s flagship phone hasn’t managed to lose a bit more bezel or/and have a notched display.

There’s certainly an argument to say that it doesn’t look as 2019 in appearance as some of the other phones out there, notably the punch-hole phones that have started to appear like the upcoming Galaxy S10

If rumours are correct and the Nokia 9 PureView is priced at the same levels as some other flagship devices, then Nokia will have a struggle to make the Nokia 9 fly in the face of ever-more fierce competition from the likes of Huawei, Xiaomi and, of course, Samsung.

We know the device will be based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 platform (maybe it might have the new 855, but it looks unlikely) with 6-inch display, 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.
