Super slim Sony Xperia XZ4 reported to have 4400mAh battery
Sony is expected to launch its next flagship smartphone – the Xperia XZ4 – at Mobile World Congress 2019. We’ve seen several rumours over the last few months, mainly surrounding the idea of a 21:9 aspect ratio display, but now a few more details have appeared on Chinese microblogging site Weibo, spotted by PhoneArena.
According to the leaked information by Sumahoinfo, the Xperia XZ4 will measure 167 x 72 x 8.2mm and weigh 191g – the same measurements as previous CAD images revealed. It is claimed it will feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 platform, which many expected, but the leaked specs also suggest we will see 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The Xperia XZ3 only offers 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage.
The huge 6.5-inch OLED screen is reported to offer the 21:9 aspect ratio that many previous reports have suggested, while the resolution is claimed to be 3360 x 1440 pixels, which would deliver a pixel density of 562ppi. The Sumahoninfo leak also highlights HDR, Triluminos and X-Reality technologies, all of which are present on the Xperia XZ3.
Perhaps one of the most interesting details about the leak is the battery capacity though. The report suggests the Xperia XZ4 will come with a 4400mAh battery, which would put it above the likes of the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 and the Huawei Mate 20 Pro.
Other details claim the Xperia XZ4 will have IP65/68 water and dust resistance, which Sony phones have offered for years. Corning Gorilla Glass 5 is also mentioned, and colour options are said to include black, silver, blue and a “deep purple”. We hope this deep purple is similar to the beautiful Bordeaux Red finish of the Xperia XZ3.
The leaked information didn’t mention camera specifications, though previous rumours have claimed the Sony Xperia XZ4 will move to a triple camera. We expect more to be revealed on 25 February during Sony’s press conference at Mobile World Congress.
