Three different Samsung Galaxy S10 models coming in 2019, one more affordable

Samsung will reportedly unleash a wave of premium smartphones in 2019, including three rather than two Galaxy S10 handsets.

This year, it ranged two Galaxy flagships in the S9 and the larger S9+ – similar to previous generations – but Bloomberg claims that a third, cheaper model will be added to the next line-up.

“People familiar with the matter” revealed to the news service that a cheaper flagship handset will allow Samsung to compete with the likes of Oppo and Huawei. The Chinese brands have been very active of late and often offer affordable flagship devices as part of their premium phone ranges.

According to the site, the cheaper Samsung Galaxy S10 will dispense with the company’s trademark curved edge display to cut costs. However, it is likely to sport the same in-display fingerprint scanner as its siblings.

Bloomberg also states that the other Samsung Galaxy S10 models will have an almost 100 per cent OLED display, with very little visible bezel. It will have a triple-lens camera system and a front-facing camera hidden behind the screen itself.

It is also said to be considering ditching the headphone jack – something it has resisted in recent times even unlike rivals, like Apple and OnePlus.

The Galaxy S10 models are likely to be 5G handsets.

A foldable screen phone is also tipped to appear next year.
